There can also be a weird issue where the ReCaptcha plugin doesn't work even though it's downloaded. In this case you can delete recaptcha.frp from config directory\plugins, restart FRD and update...

Actually, Google detects FRD as a bot as tong2shot said, and sends an unreadable captcha, so I guess it is a problem with FRD. This has been a problem for a while now.

Tested the new sample link, also works fine. From the log, it's connection problem. Did you use proxy? Have you tried it with browser?
